I hope you are all well and enjoying this lovely weather that we have today in London. This quarantine has made me think a lot about how I can approach to all of you in a different way. This community is growing every day and I thought that sharing nice things and for some of you relevant it could make us closer - perhaps you can give me your opinion about what you would like to see on the blog and instagram?
This post is about May and things that I like about it. Since I moved to London in 2012 May became my favourite month. May is one of those transitional months of the year where you can leave behind your boots and tights and bring your little toes out, the day has more light, you can drink prosecco with your friends on a terrace, spend Sundays with the family enjoying a lovely bbq and many more things - definitely May brings with it millions of things to do and endless possibilities...
This year is completely different but that doesn't mean that we can't enjoy what we have so here they are my 5 reasons why I love this month!
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are"
01 Chelsea in Bloom
Every May the shops of the Chelsea neighbourhood show the most wonderful floral displays to celebrate the start of the summer. This year the theme was "Extraordinary voyages" inspired by "Around the world in 80 days". Despite this year won't be happening, I remember when I worked in retail and that week used to be my favourite. Everyone was in a happy mood, the streets of Chelsea looked beautiful and simply experiencing that feeling was a dream. Hopefully next year we will be able to enjoy it, so if you decide to visit London you can't miss it!
One of the things that I enjoying the most of being in lockdown is the amount of time I have to watch series and movies. Usually I spend an hour or so after dinner watching series but now like everyone else I don't have to commute this allows me to have more time to enjoy the best series and movies. The list of series and movies on Netflix and tv I have watched so far is long but my favourite is definitely Killing Eve.The season 3 has been filmed between Barcelona and London - Villanelle looks divine in every single outfit!
If you want to know everything about this sexy and glam psycho assassin you need to add KE to your list of things to watch!
As you might or might not know, when I was a child I used to make necklaces and bracelets with fish wire and colourful beads - this was my one and only task every summer. Now that we are in lockdown I have seen so much creativity floating around instagram that made me feel a little bit jealous, that's why I decided to pick up my old hobby and give it a try with much better quality beads, bigger creativity and imagination. Please let me know what you think!
Another show that I have been watching on Netflix has been "Next in Fashion" presented by Alexa Chung & Tan France. I enjoyed the show every minute and it was great to see how much talent, creativity and even sometimes how easy seems for people to get inspiration - that made feel jealous too. My favourites contestants since the beginning were Minju Kim & Daniel Fletcher, both of them are marvellous. Minju Kim's collection is breath taking. I love the big proportions, the asian influence and the bright colours in all the pieces. Daniel however, has that English style inspired in the boat races and that British fashion culture vibe that I am in love with. Check their instagram to see what I mean and if you want to see the process and challenges of making a garment in a very short period of time this is your show!
If there is one thing I am grateful for since I launched Lulufeten is the amount of lovely people I have had the opportunity to meet since day one through instagram. Early this year I came across with Rowan Blossom instagram thanks to a lovely picture that someone featured about her amazing style. I clicked on her IG profile and I got completely captivated by her looks, how she works with flowers, how she display them and how she can convert an ordinary dinner al fresco onto something extraordinary, full of colours and glam! In addition to that, she is a stylist and a writer and her book called "Living with flowers" is available to purchase on amazon. If you want to get inspiration about how to spruce up your interiors with beautiful bouquets, this book is a must have on your shelves!
I hope you liked my favourites of the months!
Sending you love xx
